If you know why the apps are useful and would hate to lose them you can skip the wall of text below where I explain why I like them as much as I do and you should use them if you don't already. Or they haven't noticed Sony's silent removal. Or they just thought it was just a gimmick. Judging from the lack of uproar around this issue my guess is that most people just gave up on the apps after they didn't get past the barrier to actually pay for the apps or the unintuitive interface wasn't worth learning. So if you actually manage to get the apps installed on your camera they can be a lifesaver, creative enabler, time saver or to put it more bluntly they are useful.
I mean it was sometimes close to impossible to just pay for the apps, let alone actually get the apps onto your camera.
Let me just say that I'm not a fan of the PlayMemories camera apps. More and more people will notice that the new a7r III doesn't have apps like timelapse and smooth reflection and the removal of the 30 min recording limit.
